The wish I made for this life
to the Gods and the Buddhas,
now I'll remake it for my next life,
that may I be reborn on a lotus flower.
To the 108 prayer beads in my hands,
I'll add the number of my tear drops.
Although there's no end to my misery,
there is an end to my road, as I reach the Sonezaki Forest.

O, may we be tied to each other forever!
I've been grieving over this wish,
and now my body is rushing to its demise.
May our souls have the same place of being!
As if to dust off this fleeting floating world,
may our bodies be eternally entwined like tree branches,
so shall we die together?

Nothing can be said now to alleviate the situation.
Quickly, quickly, please end my life.
Now, I'll just keep chanting
"May Amitabha Buddha have pity."
Your lovely lovable naked skin that I once hugged in my sleep
is now being pierced by the tip of my blade.
The miserable look of your death agony
is too much for a simple "pitiable" to describe.
What has happened here in the Sonezaki Forest
will be conveyed to the world by the sound of the wind,
that we've died together, and will remain together in our next life.
We have become a model of dying together for love.
