Lyrics to Up
When I was a young one someone told me that I could be anything I wanted to be. You could call me gullible but how was I to know? I was only ten years old. As I've gotten older and started realizing none of this is true at all. I can be everything that I want to be so long as I can sell my soul. Work ten times harder, earning my free time. Live half a life, hell, it ain't mine. Do all you want and just so you know, I'll do the same and we'll get along.
Here I am, I can be anything that I want to be. For how long, I don't know. Everyone quiet, keep the blinds low.
When I wasn't looking somebody mugged me then I felt a roar and a flash of cold. I must have been holding something amazing to make someone want it so bad they would kill. As I was rising, the action was falling. The devil was picking at my toes. I let go of whatever was so amazing and I'm left with nothing but my soul.
I feel like a sucker, like life's just a playdate. Good guys or bad guys, does it even matter? I build and destroy things but can't stop entropy. I'll just keep on living and hope I'm gold.
